Sometimes people say that the best events in life are not planned. I thought this to be true until last week. With the 14th coming up, I knew that my lover and I could not splurge in the typical Valentine’s Day expense. Instead, we planned it out….I KNOW! I am most definitely NOT a planner I am a doer. Well the basic, underlining plan, was for me to cook a fantastic plate and that we would have a picnic. That was it, no spending money, or thinking of expensive ways to top off last year’s 14th.
Well it happened that this day fell on a Sunday, the day bebe goes to church. So I had until 1pm to get my butt in the kitchen. I ran my errands to the supermarket with my post it in my hand, the other on my phone. He calls me and tells me he is ready to pick me up. I ended up hurrying every dish to the last minute. I made grilled shrimp with an array of grilled peppers pineapple and ham. The display was so beautiful but I lacked to take a picture because we were both to the point of starvation and ate it. He took me to Big Bear where the weather was surprisingly changing from I-need-sun-block-lotion to why-did-I-wear-a-dress-to-the-mountains were there is snow. We had a very romantic picnic in these lovely mountains while people glanced from time to time at the couple that was laughing and drinking fresh squezzed lemonade. I also made strawberries avec chocolat which were my favorite dessert of the night. I also made flan and chicken alfredo.
He was so romantic I cannot see myself with anyone else than him. The skies and him are just what I need to smile until it hurts :)
Happy Valentines to everyone and don’t forget that it is okay to plan events such as this overrated holiday. Even planned events such as mine bring surprises of fun and adventure!
Chao!
